talent show

momoramawell, i wish i had chosen something easier than a monologue. although i could say it with success at home, it was not so good at the show. i kept having to look at my note cards which is not very professional. yes, i know i'm not a professional, but i wanted to ACT professional. people said it was good, but you know mormons would say it anyway.

so my teacher development class got short shrift to the monologue. why is it that the men always look hostile and bored and never participate unless you call on them. good thing i had a couple of plants in the audience...not really, but there are some who will always speak up, and it sure makes a teacher's life more happy.

i love my family.

you're teaching a class? is this a class at church or somewhere else? i haven't had any adult teaching experience. and i'm not looking forward to it either, if/when i ever get a calling to do so. teaching children is so much easier and more fun. they're so forgiving if you mess up! i miss teaching in primary....

well, i know a lot of women that don't participate either, so i necessarily think it's just men that don't. depends on the situation, too. but i'm still sorry to hear about it; i know it sure was frustrating when i taught Relief Society in the singles branch, and hardly anyone would participate. you just stand up there, and you're like, "all righty, then."

My friend's boyfriend teaches calculus at an Ivy League school and said that one of the professors came in the first day class, gave the lecture, and then said, "are there any questions?" then when there weren't, he said, "ok" and left. i guess the next class, people had a ton of questions. i guess i should do that the next time i teach...just sit down right away if there aren't any questions. :)
